If you own a small business, especially a creative one, you’ve probably heard about blogging. You might be wondering why a blog is necessary or you might not know what to write. Because of this confusion, many creatives ignore blogging or put it on the back burner. Once you understand why you need a blog, you will be more inspired to spend the time on it!
There are three main purposes for blogging as a small business:
The first reason to blog is to share recent work and consistently update your portfolio. Your website will rank better on search engines if you are posting consistent updates. Also, clients always feel special if they are featured on your blog!
Educational content makes the best blog! It ranks well and get lots of hits from Google. It also establishes you as an expert in your field and builds a library of content you can share with clients to improve your workflow and client experience. I love having content I can just link to to answer my clients’ questions.
This might be the most core purpose of having a blog for your business. Blogs create more content on your site that increases your chances of someone landing on your website at some point. It goes like this:
More content = more website visitors = more credibility = better SEO rankings = more clients!
Google thinks that websites with more visitors means your content is high quality. If it thinks your content is high quality, it will rank your web pages better in Google results. This, in turn, drives even more traffic! More traffic to your site means more
Are you convinced yet? Get to blogging! I promise it will be a game changer for your business. You will see improvements in your website traffic over time!
