When clients come to me to improve their website SEO, I frequently see one common mistake. There isn’t enough copy on their websites to rank well on Google. For a webpage to rank well on search engines, it should have at least 300 words. Some experts even recommend a minimum of 500 words! Therefore, optimizing the pages on your website for search engines requires there to be a good amount of text on each page.
If you have writer’s block or copywriting intimidates you, don’t fret! Here are three simple ways to add text to your main webpages while also improving your client experience! These ideas are focused on service-based businesses, but similar principles can apply for product-based businesses as well.
Client reviews or testimonials are an amazing way to add text to your page. Not only will each one provide a solid paragraph of copy, but testimonials are also a great way to sell to your ideal clients! Provide 2-4 testimonials on each page of your site that speaks to your services or products, and be sure to consistently ask for new reviews so you can keep them up to date!
It’s helpful for your potential clients to know what to expect when working with you. A step-by-step process walkthrough is helpful to prepare your potential clients and ensure you are a good fit. Additionally, a clear process overview helps you look like an expert with a tried-and-true process that will make them want to book right away!
An FAQ is an amazing way to add plenty of text to your site. Compile frequent questions from past clients and provide answers to them directly on your site. Not only will this improve your website SEO, but it will also help eliminate emails back and forth answering client questions. Plus, your clients will already know plenty about your services or offerings before they even inquire, making your client experience smoother and faster!
As you can see, not only do each of these items add rich text to your site, they also improve your processes downstream. By providing more information to your potential clients up front, you are showing them you are prepared, professional, and transparent. Who would say no to that?!
