When you think of SEO, most people think about incorporating keywords their own website. However, there are different types of SEO, and some optimization actually happens off of your site or behind the scenes. I’ll break down the types of SEO and how you can optimize for all of them in this blog and webinar linked below.
On-page SEO is the process of optimizing the content on your website to strategically place keywords throughout web pages. This is what most of us think of when we consider SEO. Some factors that affect your SEO on your website are:
Off-page SEO are factors that affect your SEO that are outside of your website. These include things like backlinks, reviews, and social media. Backlinks are hyperlinks back to your site from other websites. Check out my other blog post about building up backlinks to learn how you can increase your backlinks and improve your off-page SEO.
Google My Business as another useful tool for off-page SEO. A Google My Business profile help Google understand your business better and prioritize it for ranking. Collecting reviews on Google also helps Google know your business is progressing and helps provide continual updates.
Technical SEO is the technical or mechanical aspects of your site that affect your rankings on search engines. This includes items like page load speeds, broken links, and security. To improve your technical SEO, run a site audit on websites like PageSpeed Insights to understand your site’s performance. Also, use a tool like Broken Link Check to fix broken hyperlinks. These fixes improve the user experience for visitors on your site, and therefore, your SEO!
